INFO ABOUT MONTEVERDE:
Close to the continental divide
at 1440 meters (4662ft), the Monteverde and Santa
Elena Cloud Forest Area offers one of the most interesting
places to visit in Costa Rica. In these reserves
are found more than 100 species of mammals including
5 species of cats, over 400 species of birds including
30 different kinds of hummingbirds, tens of thousands
of insect species and 2500 species of plants (420
kinds of orquids). The area is acclaimed as
“one of the most outstanding wildlife refuges
in the new world tropics”.
Temperature: 16-18 c (61-64 f).
Annual rainfall: 3000mm (118 inches). Dry season:
December to march. Population: 7000 inhabitants.
